JSON Formatter & Validator

Make JSON readable, minify it or find syntax errors.

Everything runs in your browser. Your data is never sent to a server.

What does the JSON Formatter tool do?

JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) is the text-based data format behind most APIs and configuration files. JSON from servers often arrives on a single line with no spacing, which makes it hard to read and debug. This tool indents JSON, minifies it to one line and shows syntax errors with their position.

What is it for?

  • Making an API response or a payment provider's webhook body readable
  • Finding the missing comma or extra quote in a configuration file
  • Minifying JSON to a single line before adding it to a request

Things to keep in mind

  • JSON doesn't allow a comma after the last item (trailing comma) or single quotes; these are the two most common errors.
  • Data is processed in your browser, but be careful when sharing JSON that contains production keys.
