Base64 Encode / Decode
Encode text to Base64 or decode Base64 back to readable text.
Everything runs in your browser. Your data is never sent to a server.
What does the Base64 tool do?
Base64 represents binary data using only letters, digits and a few symbols. Email attachments, data URLs and some authentication headers use it. This tool is UTF-8 aware, so accented and Turkish characters encode and decode correctly.
What is it for?
- Decoding the user:password value in an HTTP Basic Auth header
- Reading text an API returns as Base64
- Making a short piece of text safe to carry inside a URL or JSON
Things to keep in mind
- Base64 is not encryption; anyone can decode it. Don't use it to protect secrets.
- Encoded data is roughly a third longer than the original.
